IPhone Charger Mysterious Error?

My iPhone charger has the weirdest malfunction I have ever encountered. When I try to plug it in when the phone is running, it wouldn't charge immediately and I have to keep trying a few times until it starts charging. Once it does charge, it keeps charging even if I play with the wire so I know it's not the cord that is cut. What's even more strange is that if my phone is completely dead, it always charges from the first attempt, the moment the phone turns on it stops charging and I'd have to keep plugging it in and out till it starts charging again. I hope I didn't make it too confusing but I found it to be a very interesting error and was curious how it happened.

Well if you have a charger with round pins, try plugging it in sideways

My charger does the same. Just get a new one! I've always thought that some wires got loose in the charger, but, I really don't know for sure. My charger just sometimes doesn't even charge my phone.
