IPhone contract problems/Vodafone?

I got my iPhone 5 on the 9th November and I was currently on a contract before with my iPhone 4S. I received a new SIM card for my iPhone 5 but I'm keeping the same number to my iPhone 4S it had now been two days and my iPhone 5 still says no service. I went in on the 9th November to ask why this was and they said it would only be 24 hours. Has anyone had this problem before and then it starts working?

Give Vodafone a call, explain you are no longer on contract, and you need your number transferring over to the new Sim, a person on the phone will be able to help you, they are generally quite helpful.
