IPhone is stuck on iPhone must connect to iTunes?

Okay, so I got an iPhone but it still had information on it, so I went to Settings > General > Reset Media and Settings, or something like that.So, at first it loaded, but it was really slow, so I decided to power turn off by pressing the power and home button, turned it on, and then the iPhone must connect to iTunes. So I connected it to iTunes and it said that I must restore the iPhone before I can do anything, so I did restore it via iTunes. After it went through all the loading, it said an error has occurred. So I went online for help and the only idea popped up was that I need to turn it off via home and power button, turn it on, and as soon as it turns on, I plug it in. That didn't work. I need ideas! Please help. I don't want to take it to the Apple store cause it's really far away, so don't even suggest that.

If your iphone is locked and previously using jailbreaking?
Donot update now because if its updated as ios6 you can't able to jailbreak
