Iphone query (Iphone 3GS vs Iphone 4G)?

I'm debating on getting an Iphone for my birthday. (yes I buy my own gifts) I want to get the Iphone 3GS because I simply want to use the song capabilities and a phone, the camera and other apps are just a bonus. Should I get a 3gs instead of a 4? I also am not excited about the AT&T and I don't want to pay an Arm and a Leg for a plan and phone.

Using an iPhone will cost you an arm and a leg for sure… Unfortunately.
I'm poor and looking for an iPhone to learn iPhone apps. I have been searching for it these days, so I hope that my answer will help you a little bit.

If you just want a cell phone that can play music. IPhone is not really needed.

If you still like iPhone because it looks more pretty than others, don't touch the 32 GB (would be wasteful).

And you should not get an iPhone 3GS, just get an iPhone 4G.

Why?
Because:
-- Pros:
+ More features
+ It's new and beautiful (beautiful is just my opinion - but it's really much the truth)
+ 2 years later (after selling out all the iPhone 3) Apple will invest less money on upgrading, maintaining it. Even if there will be some problems, they would possibly ignore them.
-- Cons:
+ iPhone 3GS is more reliable now - BUT Apple would fix the issues on iPhone 4G real quick since it's their best bet now.

About the plans, you could just stick with it because even if you buy a full-priced iPhone, you will need to find some provider to get the service anyways. It's also not a bad deal getting the plan with AT&T since they will provide you a cheaper iPhone (at least when you first get it).

If you don't think you would use the service for all 2 years or that you would not have the money to pay the bill some time (like me LOL), it's:
+ iPhone 4G 16GB => $599
+ iPhone 4G 32GB => $699

Well as of now the iPhone 3GS & iPhone 4 both are subject to the same AT&T 2 year plan. The iPhone 3GS is available in 8GB models only & the iPhone 4 in 16 & 32 GB models.

$99 - 8GB iPhone 3GS
$199 - 16GB iPhone 4
$299 - 32GB iPhone 4

  • Worth it to buy jailbroken iphone 3gs or a new Iphone 4 from att? I would like a jailbroken/unlocked iphone for free apps and not having to pay for internet, but is it better to get a new iphone 4 from att?
  • What is dpkg-query on iphone? I downloaded an app on my iphone called "carat" that says what uses the most battery on your phone and it says that "dpkg-query" uses a bit of life. I'm jailbroken if that helps. What is this? How do I fix it.
  • Query related to Dropbox/ iPhone 4s? I've transferred pics of my recent trip to Kashmir to Dropbox on my iPhone. If i delete the pics from the iPhone Photo Folder (to make space), will they still be there on the Dropbox? I wouldn't want to lose them, so could someone please help?
