IPhone volume isn't working?

I have the iPhone 4s and the volume just isn't working at all. When I adjust the volume with the buttons the thing isn't popping up and when I double click the home button the thing there to adjust the volume isn't even there. Even when I go to music the volume thing isn't there either. I tried fixing it by restarting the network settings, it worked but only for 2 seconds and it disappeared again. How do I fix this?

Their is something in the accesibility settings which lets you turn assistive touch which allows you to do multiple thing with that like change your volume

Clearly the person did that. I'm having the same peoblem. Your answer doesn't help at all. My 4S phone randomly has this problem and I haven't changed the settings. It bothers me that when I google how to fix it, this pops up.

I don't have any headphones on or anything and I can't hear anything! I went to my sounds in the settings and nothing worked! Why can't I listen to anything and why does it say headphones and not volume!
