IPhone-why are my apps taking up so much space?

Twitter for example. When I download it it takes up like 29mb. By the next day it's at 65mb. At one point it was 250mb so I deleted it and downloaded it again. It was like 30mb but by a few days later it was up to 60 again.

all my apps are like that. Is there a reason for it or a way to "clean" them?

It's because of Retina Display support for the iPhone 4/4S, even if you only have a 3G or 3GS. Retina support increases the needed space for apps greatly.

Here's an article about Retina Display and storage space:

  • Why is other taking up so much space on my iPhone? - 1 And more importantly, what can I get rid of to get more space? I've deleted texts, calls, voicemails, emails, photos, songs, safari cookies & data, AND notes. What is going on? It's taking up around 3 GBs (or whatever) and it's killing me.
  • Why is my camera taking up so much space? I have deleted all my photos (yes I deleted them from the recently deleted folder) but it still takes up over 2 gegs. I have an iPhone 5c
  • Why are my pictures taking up so much space on my iPhone I have an iPhone 4S w/ 16 GB of storage. I only have MAYBE 200 pictures at the MAX and, yes, a few videos only a few minutes long, but for some reason it says I have 8.2 GB of memory used on pictures. I just went through all of my pictures, and I was thinking there had to be some app or SOMETHING using a lot of picture memory somehow. P Please, can anyone give me a little help and tell me what could be causing this?
  • What is taking up so much space on my iPhone? I only have two pages of apps, 322 songs and only 52 pictures. I did the math and all that only takes up 3.6 GB (my phone is 8 GB but only 6.33 is available) so that means I should have about 2.5 GB left on my phone but somehow I only have 722 MB! So what is taking up so much memory and how can I get rid of it?
