Not really, they go for $150-$175 in great condition on craigslist.
if its jailbroke on 5.1.1 you won't be able to update to ios 6, it will brick it.

I've been looking to buy an iphone 5 for between 400-420 tops, I've been looking on ebay buy they are selling them for ridiculous prices like over 400 for a used one, I know they are not cheap but they retail from apple for about 500 so you must be able to get one for abit cheaper.
