Is an imessage the same thing as a normal text message?
On an iphone?
Yes.iMessage is just the messaging app for iPhone.
Basically, except that iMessages are between iPhones and they are free of cost.
Yes except it is only for iPhones and it can use Wi-Fi. It also shows you when the other person has seen the message and when they're typing.
No.iMessage is an Apple app for iPhones. Text messaging (SMS) is a messaging standard used on all cellular phones.
No IMessages are between two Apple devices and either need Wi-Fi or some type of Internet connection to send for example when i turned off cellular data on my iPhone (which just means I made it so I can't go on the Internet without Wi-Fi) I couldn't receive or send iMessages otherwise though they're the same thing also in iMessage you can see when people are typing responses and I they have seen your message or not

Not Really Text Message Uses Sim And Contact Numbers. And iMessage Is Free and it uses Wi-Fi/3G but iMessage is only gonna send Message to those people who have iMessages on There iPhone/iPad or iPod. Its Not Gonna send message to Contact Numbers.iMessage doesn't use Sim.
I'm assuming you mean the actual message format and not the app (since the app sends both).
iMessages are not the same as normal text messages because they go through your apple account. Think of it like email or instant messaging, where you send a message from one email/screen name to another. Instead of using your phone number and phone carrier to send the message, when you send a message to an apple ID, it uses your apple ID (which can be linked to your phone number just like you can link an email) to send the message through the internet (apple's servers) instead. You can't send an iMessage without an active internet connection (note that you will be charged for data when you send iMessages if you have it active and you are not using Wi-Fi or bluetooth as your internet source)
No. That is one that is sent over the internet, not through a carrier network. Therefore no charges.
- Will my message be delivered if sent as text message on iphone? My friend said that she was having phone problems earlier today. My message was being sent as an imessage, but I guess she wasn't receiving everyone of them, just getting the notifications that they were sent to her but she couldn't read them. I then responded to her, but it was sent as a text message this time and i have gotten no response. I'm not as much concerned about her responding or not, I just want to know if she will receive the message.
- What does this mean: Free Msg: Receiver unable to receive message - Message Blocking is active mean on iPhone's iMessage? I tried sending my friend a text and it replied with this. We haven't gotten into any fights and we hung out for hours recently. Has she blocked me?
