Is everyone now an institutionalized lemming?

It amazes me how many people follow like sheep to get an iphone. I've also noticed the smarter people in society all have a samsung, or anything other than the over-priced fad. Between facebook and iphones it makes me wonder if there's any hope for people who think for themselves, or are we just a dying breed? I'd say the latter since taxes keep going up and social welfare programs also keep increasing.

Overpaying for a phone by $250 is dumb. If you saved that $250 with interest over 30 years it comes to $1080 in missed interest.

But that's not all… Because you are a lemming your phone carrier knows it, so they charge you an extra $20/ month extra. Add that up for the typical fad period of 3 years and your "smart phone" has now cost you $3058 in missed savings and interest.

But if you are the type who follows fads and latest hype and style then I doubt you probably care much about your future anyway. Good luck with over-paying for things now, because social security won't exist when you want to retire.

It couldn't POSSIBLY be because some hipsters are themselves lemmings, and just buy samsungs because that's what they think the smart people are doing. I mean, it's not like Samsung is a multi-national, multi-billion dollar company that also spends millions on advertising… Oh… Wait…

It's a phone, man. That's all there's to it. One guy buying an iphone doesn't make them stupid. Another guy buying a samsung doesn't make them some kind of amazing innovator.
