Is it bad to constantly charge my iphone?

I have an iPhone 5s that I got on Christmas. I rarely charge it overnight, but I have a habit of constantly charging it. Ex: I unplug my phone at 100%, use it and it's now at 70%, then charge until it's 100% again. Is that bad?

Nope. If anything, you are increasing the battery life.

It is generally a good idea to "cycle" your battery at least once a week (let it drain completely, and then recharge completely)

By constantly recharging it, you are using up its total battery life.

Most devices, after 500 recharges or so, will be down to about 70% of their original capacity

And yes, charging from 70% to 100% counts as 1 charge, just like charging from 1% to 100% does.

So it'd be better to not just keep topping off your phone, and let it drain, to get maximum battery life.

Also: If you plan on not using your device for awhile, the optimal battery life you should leave it at is around 65% (don't leave it dead, and don't leave it fully charged)

  • Is it bad to frequently charge your iphone? Since i sync music alot, i plug in the adapter into the computer a lot and that charges the phone. So even if the phone is 95%, i plug in the adapter and take it out frequently. Is this bad for the phone? I just got the phone yesturday
  • Is it bad to constantly change the time on your iphone? I'm just curious because I know on the computer when you forward the time by a few hours and go back to the original time… Then do that all over again, it screws up the maintenance, scheduled clean ups and stuff… Basically it ruins the computer… So I was wondering if this "switching the time constantly" also ruins the iphone.
  • Is it bad to charge my iPhone even when it's not that low? Like charge it when it's at 70% instead of when it's really low, Will it shorten my battery life? Should I let it run completely out and then charge? I'm a new iPhone user so I just wanna make my battery last. It's an iPhone 5 if that is relevant.
  • Is it bad if I charge my iPhone 5s overnight? Will it make any difference to my battery life? I've had this phone for about 3 months now and I don't charge it overnight.
