Is it okay to Duct-tape wires?

So I got a new cord for my iphone charger. And I don't want kittens eatting through the wire. I duct taped the wire. Is that okay?

Sure, lots of people do that

Just wire your cats balls to your charger and ramp up the juice

Sure!

You are supposed to use electrical tape for that.

"However, an example of a case when duct tape is not reliable for use is in electrical applications. Therefore, if you've got a problem with the lighting system at home, do not replace electrical tape with duct tape as the effect is not the same. Stick to highly specific materials for such cases"

If you were covering bare electrical wires, you would be better with electrical tape --- but what you're doing isn't electrical work; you're adding a protective sheath, so duct tape is fine. Annie knows how to read, but isn't much of a thinker.

I'm doing a project for technology and I'm building a speaker dock, I bought a pair of these car speakers thinking I could just connect a few wires, but no.
