Is it okay to leave my laptop on for a few days?

I'm trying to encrypt a password for my iPhone 4s because I forgot the password for the backup. Anyways, the program that is needed to run will run for a few days to a week at its most. Is it okay if I left my laptop on and disabled it from "sleeping" for the days it needs to be left on?

If I needed to do this I would turn the brightness all the way down and keep the laptop plugged in during the day. Not at night because we don't want to cause any house fires. Your choice. Most people charge their phones at night so I suppose you can leave it on at night.

Yeah that's fine. Make sure nothing is blocking the exhaust fan though, otherwise, your laptop will be toast.

Jack, even if I did it during the day, it would still need to be left on throughout the night because like I said, I needed it on for a few days.

Sure it's ok. I've done it many times. Laptops can be on for months and months.

Yes, but in order to preserve the life of the battery, take it out. It isn't needed while you're plugged in for any extended period and will last much longer as a result of not being stressed by over-heating and over-charging.

Your laptop will be perfectly fine being left on for a few days. Just take out the battery and let it run to keep the health of the battery up. If you have a lenovo with enhanced experince 2.0 you can set the battery to charge to 60 percent and stop and keep it plugged it and the battery won't suffer any health loss at all.

  • Why has my battery on my iphone been draining the past few days? I have a 16 gb iPhone 6 and for the past three days the battery has been going by really really fast, even when it's asleep and in my pocket. I tried deleting apps but nothing works.
  • Why does my iPhone go through so much data in a few days? I have an iPhone 5, which is running iOS 9.1, and I seem to be going through 1gb of data in just less than a week. The only Internet browsing I do on the phone is a bit of Facebook each day (I also upload pictures to Facebook from time to time), and a few Google searches each day. Could it be the Facebook app that is eating so much data? Or could it be something else?
  • Should i buy the new iphone 5s which will come out in a few days or wait for the 6? Last year i bought an iphone 5 with a 2 year contract i still got a year more till my contract ends but what if i buy the 5s its got a fingerprint scanner and the first phone in the world to be a 64 bit and its got an a7 chip but i don't think there's that much difference. If i wait for the 6 there will be a lot of difference between the 5 and 6 and i heard there might be a holographic keyboard. Which one the 5s or 6?
  • Is there an iPhone app that doesn't let you call someone for a few days? Long story short, I'd like to cut off contact with someone for maybe 2-3 days. Is there an app on the iPhone that won't allow you to call or text someone for a brief predetermined period of time?
