Is it possible to sell a high dollar item on ebay without getting scammed?

I read about a person who sold an iphone and lost all their money AND phone because this buyer claimed it had "water damage" without even showing evidence. And ebay didn't even make them ship the item back.
I read if you make them sign a delivery confirmation they can't make false claims on you? But I don't know. Or you can have them write you a check? But i don't know if ebay even allows checks anymore. These couple of items I want to sell are over $200 and they are more "specialty" collectible items so selling them on CL would be a bit tough, someone would most likely buy it just to sell it for a little more on ebay, lol.

You shouldn't do any sort of selling on Ebay because people will do what you said even if there's no damage to something. I would sell the item on one man's junk on Facebook for whatever country you live in. That way it can be local and you might know the person. And if they have a problem then they can give it back to you personally without you knowing like it does on Ebay.

You take a risk buying on Ebay even if you read the feedback history.

A delivery confirmation only proves it was delivered. And don;t believe everything you read on the net.

What surprises me is why people don't sue ebay

ebay have no right to "award" anything to the buyer (or seller) - they are interfering with the sale contract and THATS between the seller and buyer only

Stuff like my previous iphone I always sell on craigslist. Always a cash only deal, and I let them look at it before buying it of course. I think the buyer likes it much better also.
