Is it Weird that my Daughter will be 11 on the 29th and she doesn't want any Toys?

Kate will be 11 soon, and she gave me her birthday wishlist today. It read: 1. Mint Eos Lip Balm.
2. Case for my IPhone 4. 3. Something flavored Sweet Pea from bath and body works. She is also having a sleepover with 2 close friends. So her last thing on her wishlist read 4. The best sleepover ever! Is it weird that she doesn't want any Toys? She keeps telling me she feels like she's graduated from playing with little kids and toys and things like that. Is this normal?

It depends on the child but this sounds about right. Sounds like a typical, normal little tween. My daughter is 12. She stopped playing with her dolls when she was about 10 as well. She was more into hobbies like piano and gymnastics. She liked sleep overs, playing video games and going to the movies and theme parks with her friends. She probably has accumulated enough toys already and doesn't need anymore. She's probably going to want make up soon too. I would hold off personally. When my daughter started going through puberty recently and would break out, my wife would put a little make up on her just to cover it up, but that's as far as it goes. She's going to want to grow up really fast from now on, so make sure she eases into it gently and don't let her rush into it. Again, she seems completely normal to me.

She's 11, not 5.

Yes it is. The fact that she is choosing her iPhone over herself isn't but never mind you can't change that. Give her my birthday wishes!

No, it's completely normal! I think, from personal experience that 10/11 is the age where you stop wanting toys and instead want to be "more grown up" and get other things. The things she's asking for now are just the start, next year things will get even more "mature" and it just keeps going from there. You shouldn't worry about it at all it's completely natural. She had to stop liking toys at some stage. Xx

I'm 13 and I stopped playing with toys around 10. I wouldn't worry about it. It may seem a little mature to you but couldn't you remember being a kid and wanting to seem as grown-up as possible? That's probably how she feels. It's normal, and most of the other kids around her age are trasitioning out of toys as well. Hope I helped!

I stopped playing with toys when I was around 11 (now my computer and my tablet are my only toys). She's fine. Everyone stops playing with toys someday, and 11-13 is a good age to stop.
