Is it worth buying a second-hand iPhone 4 which is locked in Lost Mode? - 1

I'm thinking of buying a used iPhone but the seller says it's stuck in Lost Mode. It's selling very cheap and presumably they have tried everything in their power to unlock it to no avail.
If I buy it are there any applications that I can use to unlock it?
Alternatively could I jailbreak, and would that help?
Or if not, is there any possibility I could take it into a repairs shop (not the Apple store but a third party one) and they could do it for me?
I think you can restore it, but it asks for Apple ID and password and I wouldn't be comfortable asking the seller for that after I buy it.
**I don't care if it's stolen, this isn't a moral issue for me**

No. It is stolen and therefore blacklisted. In order for Apple to remove those locks you have to show that you legally purchased from the original owner. If he can't remove a passcode lock then that shows He stole the phone.

If it is in lost mode then that shows that it has a iCloud password lock on it meaning you can't get into that phone at all. Even Apple will not help you. Because the phone stolen.

Avoid it. He is trying to scam you.

No

I would only buy the second iPhones in person, so that the seller can prove that the device he/she is their own property. I would do this by asking them to restore the device and then I myself would try signing into my own apple id on the device
