Is Microsoft Surface Worth The Price?

I'm saving my money for a tablet or a laptop, I decided I'm not going to get a laptop for the simple fact i only use my current one for music or social media. I have narrowed down my tablet choices to iPad or Microsoft Surface. The iPad is $399.99 and the Surface is $499.99 the surface is a 32gb comparing to the 16gb iPad. I only get paid $150 a week (underage kinda job) so i have to save 3 weeks for a iPad or 4 for the surface. Is it worth 4 weeks? I like the surface because it has a lot of office features, which i enjoy working on that kind of stuff. But the microsoft store doesn't have a lot of apps comparing to the iPad. Which is a great factor for it. But knowing i already have an iPhone and iPod i don't think i need games that much. Which should I get? Opinions on products? Worth the wait? Maybe a laptop is better?

I would definitely to with the iPad. It is a true tablet and you get access to the millions of apps in the app store.
The surface I find is really overpriced, it's rather heavy and bulky, and there are barely any apps in the Microsoft Store or whatever they're calling it now. It's not very good for social media unless you like using "Windows Live." I think it's made more for businesspeople than personal users. The only real advantage to the Surface is that you get access to the full desktop version of Microsoft Office. With the iPad though you can use iWork, and you will even soon be able to use MS Office for iPad.

Another advantage to the iPad, since you already use an iPhone and iPod, is that all your content will be synced automatically between devices. You can get all the same music, and your Safari settings will be saved, for example.

Finally, the iPad is just overall fun to use, while the Surface feels more like using a laptop.

In the long run, if you want something to last that is durable and versatile and can be used as a overall replacement to a desktop computer, you should get a laptop.

For portability and your apparently short necessities (social media and Office), get the Surface, solely for Office. I always had a favor for Microsoft Office because of it's straight forward GUI (looks and interface) compared to Apple's word processor, and since Surface can run it, get the Surface. Plus Surface is cheaper.

Quite honestly I can never properly answer questions asking for advice on two products on Y! Answers, as there are a billion things in personal tastes we gotta consider.

So if you really want a in-depth discussion on which is best for you, just e-mail me from my profile! My answer here is only based off what you told me.
