Is my friend lying to me and using me to pay for purchases on Apple?
I let my friend use my debit card because she claimed she needed it to update her iphone. Everything seemed fine until August when I suddenly started getting purchases from $0.99 to $35 but then it got worse the charges started adding up thus eating into my meager funds. When I confronted her about these purchases, she would come up with excuses saying her boyfriend's nieces and nephews made the purchases, or that our mutual ex made the purchases. She even claimed she removed my debit card info from her itunes account but then I continued to get charges from apple and when I confronted her, she claimed our ex made the purchases. She recently told me she called apple and even claimed they would give me a refund. I never got it. She even promised the purchases would stop but then I got two more charges from apple for $0.99 and $7.98. She also purchased icloud storage and apple music and told me i would only get charged for those only. Again, she promised I would get a refund for the latest charges but I'm afraid I may never get it even after she claimed it would take a few days. How can I get her to remove my debit card info from her apple account? I'm tired of these charges and am worried more charges will show up because I can't use my debit card without this problem in the way. Should I call the bank? I'm convinced she's lying to me and using me. I don't know if I can trust her anymore.
Your "friend" is stealing from you. I'd call the bank.
Dump her immediately.
Your problem should be why don't you trust your friend? Is this really a friend? There's no relationship without trust, that should have been your first clue. Second as I tell my oldest daughter NEVER EVER LEND OR BORROW MONEY FROM FRIENDS. This may sound silly but I've seen enough Judge Judy & People's Court to know it never ends well.
You sound young so I'm guessing you are maybe around my oldest daughter's age, early 20s. Talk to your parents about this, they will not be happy and fuss at you telling you that you made a dumb mistake, but just listen and agree, don't argue. Let them help you out or hopefully they will out. The first thing you need to do is cancel your debit card immediately. My teen son recently got his own bank account and he can log in to his account anywhere and deactivate his card. So get this done As soon as possible. Next, take your bills, highlight each charge you didn't make, write out the total and give your friend 2wks to pay it back. IF she claims refund require proof from her Apple account, she should be able to log in and show this to you. Then threaten small claims court if she doesn't pay you back in full within 2wks.
Most of all learn your lesson to never ever loan money to a friend. It isn't worth it. My oldest has learned this the hard way.
Call the bank and cancel your card.
Call your bank, put a hold on that debit card, and don't give her anything in the future.
Get your card changed so she's cut off. Simple. It doesn't matter who did it, she owes you, it's her phone and she's' responsible.
Ask your bank to cancel the existing card and provide a new one. This will end all purchases on the old card.
I would have frozen the card funds immediately after the second purchase. Contact your bank to make changes so that she no longer has access. Drop this "friend" immediately. She does not owe you anything, legally, because you gave her access to it outright.
- What to do if girlfriend keeps lying and you tell her you know the truth? Me and my girlfriend been together 5 years and we've had ups and dwns and we made a promise to each other that we would stay faithful and I did but this dude texted her and they were texting for a while and I found out cause she deleted the messages but she has a iphone and I seen all of them in the spotlight search but she's still lying about the situation
- My friend is lying to our other church friends? She always have someone paying for her groceries buying her kids stuff while she spend her money on a iPhone, Victoria secret, and a $70 dollars gym membership! Everyone thinks she is the Poor mother in need. Should i set boundaries walk away and let everyone find out on their own or tell our friends? It's a church environment she's a respected mother of 2.
