Is Straight Talk actually selling IPhone XRs for $71?

I'll start off by apologizing for any misunderstanding that I may have, but I've been looking to buy a new phone and saw that Straight Talk had plans for $35 a month and that no where does it show any price for an Iphone; I added the phone to my cart and the only price it showed was for the plan while on the side showed I can pay the full retail price of $784 instead. I really don't care about the phone plan, I just want to buy an iPhone and essentially just use it like an old iPod touch (because my iPod touch 5 has become absolutely useless and I don't want to spend a lot of money on a new phone).

Is there some kind of catch here where the monthly plan doesn't come with the phone, or I'm stuck in some contract that I can't get out of or something? I don't really understand how Straight Talk works and trying to get some clarification as to what I'd be getting myself into.

Please note that I'm not joking; if I appear to be stupid, that's because I probably am. I just wanna know have I found a golden ticket here. Thank you in advance

It's $71 per month upfront and $71 each month until it's paid off in about a year.

You have to have service for that year as well. The phone can't be unlocked until it's paid off and you have continuous service for a specific amount of time.
