Is the $999 2012 11 Macbook Air good enough for iphone game/app development?
I want to make games and apps for iphone and ipod touch so bad but not sure if the specs of the 11" 2012 mba are good enough seeing that the processor is at 1.7 ghz.
I plan on upgrading the ram when i buy it to 8gb.

Yes, but really, I would just buy a PC and run Mac OS X through VMWare.
That Mac will be good enough. With the new third generation Intel processors, the 1.7GHz processor on the 11-inch Macbook Air is Turbo Boosted up to speeds of 2.6GHz when it's needed (usually in downloads, etc.), so I don't think you'll run into any issues. Upgrading the RAM is a good idea though.
HOWEVER, if you do want the best specs for your money and still stay under $1, 099, I highly recommend this refurbished 13-inch Macbook Pro: http://store.apple.com/.../FD313LL/A It's the October 2011 model and being sold for 15% off its original list price! Plus, it's eligible for the OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date Program, so you can get the new operating system for free. I know the Macbook Air is lightweight and very sleek looking, but if you really want to get the most for your money, the Macbook Pro is the way to go.
They're both great computers and will be able to handle app development. So it's your choice, I just thought I'd give you all the options.
- What tools are needed for Iphone game development? Okay guys, I'm totally new to this and I have heard about cocos 2d studio, sprite kit provided by apple and of course xcode. I know the xcode is needed definitely but I'm not too sure about cocos 2d stereo and sprite kit. I don't know if I have to have both of these necessarily or not. And also what is the best strategy to just buy the animations since I don't want to spend time on graphic design and I just want to focus on game development itself?
