Is the digital age becoming too dangerous?

Phones track our locations, know our habits, bank details, emails, contacts, intimate secrets we discuss with friends and family. In essence, they know where to hit us to make us hurt.

"The 21st Century is a digital book." All it takes is for someone to read our book and voila. We're at their mercy. Now, you could tell me that my information is encrypted or protected but the majority of the world has no idea whether that's true or not. Throwing some random words at us that sound like protection is a placebo at best.

The iPhone and pretty much the rest of the digital age is becoming a dangerous tool. As soon as it falls into the wrong hands, it's a new form of totalitarianism. I'm all for advancements in technology, but the world needs greater contingency plans and safety measures to ensure that our data is safe and free.

If the NSA or police or the like can spy on a criminal - find out his location, his habits, who he knows, etc. - who's to say they won't do that to you or me for saying or doing something they don't like. And get away with it with impunity.

What bothers me is not the capabilities of these technologies. What bothers me is how easy it is for someone to abuse their capabilities.

So what do you think?

Yes, the reptilians are watching everything we do.

I use a rotaty.
