Is the IOS UPDATE 11.2.2 update
The one that is supposed to slow down the older Apple Phones?
If this is the one, I don't want that.
I have an IPhone 6s+.
All Apple updates can slow down any iPhone which has a battery which is past its prime.
My phone is older than yours and is an iPhone 6. The battery is noticeably not as good as it once was but I have not noticed in slowdown in performance at all with any of the updates, including 11.2.2.
In any case, the latest update is a security fix to resolve the recently published vulnerability of all Intel processors and similar architecture models such as AMD.
The "slowdown" is simply power management preventing the CPU drawing more power than an old, failing, battery can provide.
If the battery is OK, it will have no effect.
If the battery is weak it will last longer on a charge than otherwise, at the cost of a slightly less responsive phone.
Fit a new battery and it's back to normal performance.
Would you rather have it suddenly shutting down when the battery is still showing 30 - 40% ? That's the alternate, when a battery gets really bad.
No. That came from an earlier update. Also it doesn't slow down older iPhones, it slows down iPhones that have batteries that have lost their initial capacity to a point. So if someone didn't treat a battery in an iPhone X (or it is defective from the start) then that would happen to them as well.
Better than having a phone shut down randomly in my opinion, though Apple could have been more upfront about that being the case.
- Update stopped during ios update own iphone now phones broke I connected my iPhone 4 to my computer (iTunes) and started doing the update through iTunes. About five minutes into the update iTunes in my computer stops working, causing the update to of course stop working. Now my phone will not turn on. On the screen it is black with the 'charge symbol' as if it were low on battery and an iTunes symbol. I have tried turning my phone off and on, but of course it didn't respond.
- New iOS 6 update, find my iPhone update? I don't like the new find my iPhone update is there a way to change back to the old find my iPhone but keep the new update? It's not showing locations like it used to and won't even how me major boroughs like Croydon. Streets are difficult to see, much smaller picture. General *** compared to the older version.
- Is the iOS 6.1 update on iPhone 3 safe to update? On my first iPhone there were problems, and the update didn't help it wiped out everything and among other things had to get a new iPhone. The iPhone I have now works, so should I risk this update? It's a 3GS.
