Is the iPhone 4S Even worth it anymore?

I can go to CEX After my Birthday and pick up a Mint condition iPhone 4S 16GB for £120 ($189) I used to have an 8GB 4S about a year ago and I loved it. The only thing that annoyed me about it was that it only had 8GB Internal, 3GB was used up with the iOS, and preinstalled apps. Once I downloaded like 15 of my own apps, added like 50 songs and took like500 pictures, the space filled up.

If I got a 16GB Version, I would have like 13GB To use up,. Or if I got a 32GB Version, I'd have 28GB To use

Get anything you want.

I'd recommend at least the iPhone 5 personally despite rumors that it may get iOS 9 (which it wasn't expected to get at the beginning of the year)

Its junk

I've had the phone you are talking about for a few years now, and it is awesome! $189 seems a tad bit steep for 16 gigs, though, $120 seems a bit more reasonable. On the software side of the device: if you are okay with running an out-of-date iOS on it, it's great! If Apple follows it's update cycle, iOS 8 is the last OS on it. Therefore, it becomes obsolete in September, though, there are reports suggesting that there will be a "dummied down" version of iOS 9 that will be supported on the 4s. In conclusion - It is still worth it, but only for a few more years.

Well put it this way. I've had my iPhone 4S (bought brand new) for 3 years now and it's still in mint condition literally only 2 tiny scratches. Everything still works perfectly, so if you can look after a phone properly then I would recommend it. However since installing iOS 8 I've noticed the phones running speed to be slightly slower. However if you was to invest in a different iPhone I would suggest a iPhone 5C they have the same specs as the iPhone 5 but without all the common bugs the 5 had. Going back to the 4S it's definitely still a great phone.

It's a good usable phone but is now at the end of its useful life as there will be no further iOS updates for it. That means it'll get left behind like the iPhone 4 has been and a decreasing number of apps will work on it as time goes on.

Used iPhones are simply commodities and like all commodities the prices change according to market forces. Right now they're pretty low and you can buy an iPhone 5s 64Gb, unlocked, boxed and in virtually new condition for just under £200, although not from CEX. I know that because that's what mine just sold for on eBay, having lost nearly £200 in value since last September when I bought it the same way as a used phone. But stretching your budget to at least a 5c or for greater future proofing a 5s with at least 32Gb in each case means the phone has a longer remaining useful lifespan and a higher resale value.

If you get a 5s then it's much the same as a 6 with a slightly smaller screen and a slightly slower processor (you absolutely do not notice the difference in speed). The camera is identical hardware to the one on the 6 but the image data processing on the 5s is vastly superior resulting in far better photo image quality. Unlike on the 6, the camera lens doesn't stick out at the back inviting itself to be damaged.
