Yes, the iPhone 7 is still good in 2018. I have a iPhone 7 and it works perfectly fine.
Even the iPhone 6 is still absolutely fine in 2018, so the 7 is no problem.
There's very little real difference between a 7 and an 8, and as the 8 does pretty much everything the X can there's little practical difference between a 7 and the X.
Once the 7 can no longer run the latest version of iOS is when you start thinking of changing, unless before that you find that your phone has not got enough onboard storage.
Definetly! Ios 12 can be upgraded all the way up to the iphone 5s. It can run any apps currently at the app store
I think it is ok (I own one currently) though I plan to get an iPhone XR next month.
In a way though it depends on if you currently have one & exploring options or looking to get one.
If you are like me & had the phone for a while, I'd recommend an upgrade if possible.
If you are looking to get it now, it would be fine & pretty cheap for what was a flagship model 2 years ago.
As long as your phone works there isn't any problem.

If you have one it is then you can wait until iPhones are 5G compatible to replace it. My wife chose the 8 but if her iPhone 6 had did not have a cracked screen it wouldn't have become my iPod Touch because she would still be using it. I did find the 5 not to be so good because Pokemon Go isn't supporting it anymore.
