Is the IPhone worth a 2 year contract?

Iv been looking for a new phone, and I really want the iPhone but my family would prefure a non contract phone, and the non contract phones I want are too expensive, but I really want the iPhone. So, is the iPhone worth the 2 year contract? What are the pros and cons? I'd really appreciate y'all's thoughts.

Pros The phone is cheeper.
Cons The plan is more expensive and it is almost as much as the phone to get out early.

DO NOT GET AN IPHONE! DON'T GET AN IPHONE!
Get an android. The Nexus 4 is cheep off contract, $250.

If you've never had an iPhone, then its a good choice to get one. I've had iPhones from 3GS to 4S, and none of them disappointed me. But because of the lack of innovation to the iPhones and rising costs, I just switched out and went for a Galaxy S4. But, still a very good phone for 2 years.

Sure, get the iPhone on a two year contract. Keep it for another two years with full support and it winds up being a lot cheaper than any Android junk.

Well, if you're getting a smartphone you'd have a monthly cost for voice / data regardless of whether it's a contract or non-contract phone. So, the only real difference is the upfront cost, and how often you plan to switch phones. In my case, I've always gone with the lower cost of a contract phone, and traded it in at the end of 2 years to recover the upfront cost. A few times it's been painful not to get the latest iPhone as soon as it was released - but the lower cost more than made up for it.
