Is the iPhone x a good deal? Or should I wait until next year?

Is the iPhone x a good deal? Or should I wait until next year?

Not at all. It is a money-grab designed by Apple's psychologists to transition their pricing range substantially. Just think about it, you can do all the things you care about in a phone which costs $150 no-contract. Then, why pay so much for a phone?

A few years ago, you had to pay more to get reasonable quality, but now the competition has brought down the cost and increased the quality of even the budget range phones.

If you could afford it, by all means.
If not, then yea, next year.

Not in the least. It's a huge amor t to pay for a phone which is still only designed to last two years. It'll last longer than that in most cases, but they only get designed to last as long as the average phone contract these days.

For that huge price, you get a phone which does little more than any other high-end smartphone, but has the added complication of a number of technologies which are entirely new to Apple. So you can expect bugs, and I strongly suspect that the facial recognition system will prove to be less safe and reliable, and likely slower, than the present fingerprint-sensing home button. And for all the hype, it still has what is effectively a home button, but a non fingerprint-sensing version on the right hand edge of the phone. The screen also has an ugly bite taken out of the top edge to accommodate the camera and the facial recognition system.

Personally, I'd let all those fanboys with more money than sense act as guinea pigs for it and wait to see next year's release. Which will either be significantly improved, or possibly cheaper.

It makes sense now to get a good, used, iPhone 7, with as much on-board storage as you can get. Because it's very nearly as good as the iPhone 8 which is really just an iPhone 7s when you look past the few added gimmicks. Most people won't use wireless charging just yet until the charging mats are far more widely available, but with the new iPhones every purchaser pays for an expensive built-in accessory they might never use. And although the processor is faster, it won't make any difference to real-world everyday usage. When the day comes that I know that I'll find wireless charging mats built into most office desks, restaurant tables, cars, cinema seats, hotel rooms and laptop computers so that I won't need to carry around a USB charging cable and possibly a wall outlet USB charger then I'll finally want a wireless charging iPhone.

  • Should I pre-order the iPhone 5 online or wait until the launchdate? Ok so here's the problem, I'm looking to get the iPhone 5 on a new 2year contract with Verizon & I have no credit backgroundd cause I'm 20 so I heard they would charge me for the phone & I guess like $400 cause I don't have any credit. I'm not sure how this all works or if I should wait till it comes out & go purchase it at the store but not sure if they would do all the same? Lots of answers with detail would be awesome! A deposit of what? How much?
  • Should I go ahead and get the iPhone 6 or wait until the next iPhone comes out? I want the iPhone 6 now bc I'm eligable for a upgrade but then again I want to be current and not be another year behind the current phone. What should I do?
  • Should I get the HTC One or wait until the next iPhone is released? I have the Galaxy S4 but its not working so I have to get another phone. I should wait for the next iPhone and then decide between the two, right? I wouldn't be without a phone because I have a BlackBerry so I'm using that. There's some problem in its software, so I don't want to spend money on getting it fixed. Its not on warranty. I can wait for the iPhone. Should I wait? I'll be getting my new phone in October anyway. So I'll have to wait for it either way.
  • Should I get a iPhone 6/6s or wait until iPhone 7? So this my plan. I'm under contract with my iPhone 4 until August 25th this year. But I could only afford the 16gig version of a iPhone 6s. But I was thinking of waiting for the iPhone 7 next year because it could better. The s version of I iPhone is a waste of money. So I would wait until next year but my iPhone 4 is so crappy I was thinking of buying a iPod 6 so I can use that until next year. 32 gig version of the iPod. Is this a good idea?
