Is the Lending Library worth buying a Kindle?

I already have an iPad and and iPhone that I can read kindle books on but I an debating purchasing the smallest Kindle for $49 so I can use the Owners Lending Library. I also already subscribe to amazon prime. Is the Lending Library worth purchasing a separate device?

I don't know if the lending library thing alone is, but the kindle is way worth getting just for the easiness to read from. And less eye strain

The owners lending library only lets you get one book a month. You can already get loads of free books from amazon on your ipad, so I don't think buying a kindle is going to help. Plus, you have to pay $79 a year for prime to use the lending library. That's only worth it if you can borrow videos on a kindle fire.

The Amazon "Kindle Owner's Lending Library" is available to Prime members only - people who pay $80/yr for Amazon Prime.

It is my impression that the latest major publisher books and bestsellers are not among the books you can borrow for free, at least not when they are new.

If you are in the US and have a local library card and pin for a library that supports the Overdrive service, you can borrow ebooks for free from the public library - I think they have an app for iPad as well as loaning Kindle and Nook books. You do have to queue for the books and are notified when one you want is available.

In my opinion… Not really.

I usually borrow one book a month. Rarely are any of them really good or former bestsellers. Mostly a lot of unknown work. Although for some reason, the Hunger Games trilogy is available and defies that observation I made.

  • Why isn't my book on my kindle? I downloaded a book for kindle on amazon.com. I do this sort of thing all the time, and, pretty soon it's on the kindle for iPhone app, where I read them. I downloaded a book two nights ago, and have purchased it with enough money in my account and everything, but it's not appearing?
  • Should i get the 7 kindle fire HD or the Kindle Paperwhite? I already have a Macbook and iPhone, thats why this decision seems hard for me. Also, can someone tell me more about Amazon Prime? If i get a Kindle should i get it? Is it worth it?
  • Should I buy a Kindle Fire if I have a Iphone? I'm considering buying a Kindle Fire but I have a Iphone will the Kindle Fire be any use for me?
  • Kindle Lending Library without a Kindle? I currently have an iPad, iPhone and read using the Kindle app for the desktop while at work. I also have an Amazon Prime account. If I purchase a cheap and broken old kindle and associate it with my Amazon account would I be able to borrow books from the Kindle Lending Library and read them on other devices?
