Is there a chance that I can get my stolen iPhone back?

So I left my backpack out in the girls gym locker room but my phone was inside. When I came back, it was gone, and I knew it had to be a girl in 3rd hour gym. I talked to the school cop and dean but all they can do is call down girls that are seen on the security camera. So far, the cop only called down one girl but I have no idea how effective the searches are. For all I know, the phone could be in her pants or in her locker and the cop would never know. Immediately in 4th hour, I put my phone on lost mode, and it will make a loud noise until the passcode is in. Then I called AT&T to say that my phone has been stolen.

They said that the phone was turned off at 9:47, and the lady in charge of the locker rooms opened the doors at 9:40, unless my phone was stolen after I went out for gym, which was around 9:10. I have a feeling that it was stolen after 9:10, the person held it onto them during gym, and then finally turned it off at 9:47. 9:47 is too early to be released from gym, unless they snuck back to the locker room after 9:40.

Well the iPhone is pretty much useless, because if the SIM card was taken out and replaced, AT&T will be notified and the second it connects to the internet, is where I can track the phone down. There's literally no way to change the serial number of the phone, or restoring it without dodging internet connection.

It is actually considered a felony because my iPhone is worth $650, and the girl across from me in the locker room also got her phone stolen. Earlier in the year, this girl in my gym class got her phone stolen, but got it back after one day. She is also in the same aisle as me in the locker room. She is going to jail, no questions asked.

The cop literally said "You're never going to get your phone back" and he said it's literally impossible. As he's watching the security cam video the thief is right in front of his eyes! The cop isn't really trying at all, and this does not make our school look good. I also plan on going to the local newspaper and school newspaper for this.

Sad… Have faith my friend… If you will it… It will be…

You can also contact someone from the apple store and I believe they ask for your IMEI number, they can then track the phone by location should it ever be switched on again, ( and possible where it was before it was switched on). This happened to my brother under the exact same circumstances.

It also wouldn't hurt to ask around (subtly) some of the kids in your gym class, if they know anything about what happened. My brother found out who the culprit was as he was caught bragging about it in some chatroom online for the students, unfortunately he had already sold it on, but the police now know to keep an eye on this kid.

It is unlikely that you will get your phone back, but you have nothing to lose! So give it a try. If you make no progress in the next week I suggest get the phone blocked so its useless then to anyone, keep an eye out in future.

You don't need internet connection to track down an iphone or a blackberry. Iphone and Blackberrys have build in GPS just like these that are used in cars to give you directions, they don't need internet connection all you need to know is your IMEI or serial number for the phone if you know it you can go to a police station and say "My phone got stolen, can you track it for me" it will cost you money like $20 but everyone would do it, I would rather pay $20 than lose a $600 worth phone. And there's Free option where you don't need to pay but the iphone need kind of internet connection 3G or Wi-Fi and you can use tracking website where they track down your phone by phone number or IMEI. Hope this helps.
