Is there a maximum voltage limit for iPhones?
I'm creating a charger for iPhones and Samsung/Android phones. I was wondering if these devices had resistors, so that I can't blow peoples phones.
There's a maximum voltage limit for everything. Since they have USB connections, they are expecting to see 5 volts. It may be able to regulate a bit, but I would keep it within a couple of volts.
The iphone will not draw more then what is needed.
No i don't think there's to say the least.
Read the USB specifications (or any abstract, e.g. At Wikipedia). There are some rather stringent voltage limits, depending on which USB version we're talking about.
Also, there are some (lower) limits on the current that has to supplied at these voltages - if your device can't provide that current, the phone may refuse to charge at all.
And yes, 4 1.5 V batteries will exceed the USB specifications. 3 AA batteries will have too little voltage, except when straight out of the box. You won't be able to get around that wtihout some form of voltage regulator.
- What is the maximum length for sending video from iphone to iphone? Is 30 seconds too much to send via mms on iphone? Sometimes it says the file is too large or long… I know there are a few apps that let you but do they still get the video even if they don't have the app?
- What does maximum operating altitude mean? Because I read on apple.com that she maximum operating altitude for a MacBook Pro and iPhones, etc was 10, 000 ft. How do people still use them in planes?
- Voltage regulator VS voltage divider? I want to make a few of those altoids oh sh*t USB chargers. Instead of using the 5V regulators like everyone else does, can't I just create a voltage divider with two resistors? Why though? As long as my Iphone is seeing 5V it shouldn't matter, no? Or is the regulator really some kind of current regular aging device too? Dun think so. And what are the odds of me destroying my cell phone? You think there's circuitry protection of I screw up the polarity?
- My iPhone battery lasts for 1.5 hours maximum, what should I do It is on whited00r custom 3.1.3 FW, the battery heats too much and won't last for more than 1.5 hours and it drains in stand by mode (and there's no app opened or push or notifications or BT or ShSh ) what should I do about that. Any help is really appreciated. ThnQ all ^_^
