Is there a way I could text outside of my country for free?
So, I live in Canada and I have free texting to and from anywhere in Canada. Problem is, I have internet friends living in America and I want to be able to contact them somehow without it charging either of us money. I have an iPhone, is there anyway I can download an app for that? Or something I can do to text all my american friends without any charge on either of our parts?

- Will data be charged for texting and calling outside the country to another iphone? My girlfriend is going to costa rica for the summer and i need to know will me calling and texting her use up my date. It would be facetime audio and imessage only. Also i have att if that matters.
- Why could i have gotten a text message with no text box? Yesterday morning, I looked at my smart phone ( android) and I got a text from someone. I clicked on the contact's text and there was no message, no blank bubble, nothing. It just looked like one of us was getting ready to start a conversation but no message was sent. (Extra info: I may be wrong but I think this certain contact has an iphone.) What could cause this? I don't want to ask the person because it would be extremely awkward.
