Is there any reasoning behind excessive walking/the desire to constantly walk?
I'm a 19 year old, 5'11, 150lb male and I walk a lot. I don't feel tired, it's my preferred transportation and I thoroughly enjoy it. I don't usually keep track of how much I walk, but I just learned that my iPhone health app automatically does it. Everyday I'm averaging 11-15 miles completely without noticing it. I believe it's accurate because I do things like walk from Queens to Manhattan, (I live in NYC) or I'll be on 14st street and just start walking until I realize I'm at 198st, and then I'll walk back. I'm asking if there's any reasoning behind it because I feel compelled to constantly walk, not even run or jog… Just literally walk and walk without end. If I'm on the bus or train, I'll just get annoyed and get off to walk the rest of it. Maybe there's nothing deep to it, but I'm curious if there's because in all honesty, I know very few people of my nature. You'll hear "why can't you just drive or take the bus?" Long before you hear "sure, let's walk cross-city." So, just curious.
Well even if no one knows why, it's good exercise for you and it keeps your blood flowing. Most people your age would never dream of walking anywhere which is sad. I would just ignore it and keep doing it. If I were to guess though, I'd say that it would be your way of occupying yourself which is nice. There's nothing wrong with you though if you're thinking that.
You may be using walking as an avoidance technique, that is, as long as you are walking you are unable to do other things which might have to be faced were you to save all that time you spend walking. Walking is seen as something people who can't afford to drive or ride do, because it's very time consuming.
Why do some people like vanilla ice cream? Why do some people hate rock music? Why do I love coffee and hate tea? No one knows. Maybe it's the genes or some forgotten childhood memories or experiences. My grandfather was like you. He'd walk everywhere. My brother's like you too. It's not an irrational thing. You just like to walk. That's all. Come to think of it, I'm like you too.
I walked so much in my early 20's. It felt so good! My son is 21 and loves to walk even though he has a bike. He has the chance to get a car but he doesn't want it. Go figure. No big deal.
I enjoy walking too. It is very good for you and once you get into the rhythm you just travel along, see the world go by. I do not walk as mush as you do though.
Keep doing it. You will be fit and healthy for the rest of your life.
- What else should I add to my reasoning? So, me and my grandfather are gonna have a talk about him getting me a IPhone 5 or 5s for Christmas. And I've been thinking of things that could convince him. Right now, I have an iPod Touch and I'm willing to sell it if I get it. A Good reason is it can be handy. I'm also about to be 15 years old. But I really need some good reasons on why I should get it.
- Is there any iPhone game apps like 'The Walking Dead'? As I been waiting ages and ages for the next season game just wondering if there's a game like 'The Walking Dead' where you can make choices and speak for the characters? I really love these games. I've looked on telltale games bit there nothing like 'The Walking Dead'.
- Is there an idiom behind this quote? "Today 2 year olds can unlock an iphone, open, and close all their favorite apps all by themselves. When I was at that age, I was eating dirt" I feel like there's a deeper meaning/understanding behind this. Can someone sum this up shortly for me?
