Is there anyway that I can convince my college drop out nephew to grow up?

So I have a nephew who is schizophrenic and has a severe learning disability and he recently dropped out of college. He left because he was placed on academic probation and now all he does is just sit at home all day. He has no driver's license and he doesn't even want to study to get a permit and his bed time is 5:30 in the morning and he sleeps until like 2pm. He also doesn't want to put an effort to get a job and says he's gonna try to get social security disability to give him monthly checks that he is planning to use to get a mail order bride. Everytime when someone including his friends asks him to do something he always says he is busy when all he does is watch tv and listen to music all day. His parents have tried convincing him to grow up and get a job but he insists on living off of disability and he is currently trying to apply for it. He is 23 years old and he acts like a 6 year old and is really lazy. He has an iPhone but he doesn't even pay for the monthly bill for it and makes his parents pay for him. I tried convincing him to grow up and be an adult but he won't listen. Is there anyway that I can convince him to grow up?

His parents have to stop enabling him.

In order to have someone start taking steps forward, you might have to take some steps back from them. As another person said he continues to do this because his parents allow it to go on by paying his bills and such. He MAKES them pay his phone bill? If he's not holding them at gunpoint or anything then I don't see how he's making them, they're just doing it because they feel bad which is a bad idea.
I also think that laziness may not be his only problem; maybe something is wrong with him socially. That may explain why he doesn't ever leave the house to hang with friends or anything.

His parents should kick him out and maybe he'll see how hard it is to get by if you're doing absolutely nothing. People like that can't be "convinced"

  • Will LeBron James just grow up, seriously? I respect his game, but this man's attitude is horrible. This guy is like a spoilt brat who complains that his mother buys him an iPod touch even though he wanted an iPhone. This guy… His attitude is just childish. He complains when he is knocked down or even touched, even though he is about 60lbs heavier than everyone on the court. His attitude needs to change. The Man is 28 is turning 29 this year, you'd expect that he would be matured by now. At nearly 30 years of age.
  • Why does pubic hair grow faster? Well I'm not complaining that my facial hair hasn't become black or my arm or stomach or leg or back. But my pubic hair becomes a bush after 2 weeks of shaving it down to nothing. Why does it grow like this cause it's black (the hair not me) and I'm about to be 14( I'm a late bloomer). I'm typing on the iphone just a little heads up
  • People of all ages: Did people born in 1990 grow up with iPhones? Explain why or why not. The first iPhone was released in 2007. BQ: What year were you born in and did you grow up with iPhones.
  • My nephew got a message on his iPhone that we don't know what it means? My nephew was updating his iPhone to IOS6 at his friends house. A little while later he received a message on his phone that says: "Phone number added to "noahs ipod". "noahs ipod" is now using =1. ### (nephew's phone number) for iMessage". Can anyone tell me what that really means? And how do we get rid of that?
