Is this the end of the rope for my iphone 3gs?

I updated itunes to 10.7 but can't manage to "update phone" with 5.5 ios thru itunes.

seriously thinking of jailbreaking it once and for all cause even IF ios 5.5 works; it will certainely be the last of updates for a 3gs.

i think it looks great and still works like new; so selling it would be more of loss cause everyone will say that its almost 3 years old.

any suggestions or experience in matter?

Added (1). I can't sign in itunes account/ itunes store from computer or phone?! WTF!
all apps keep crashing.
can't downgrade itunes for the millionth time…

I recently had a 3GS and was able to upgrade to iOS6 I believe if I'm not mistaken. Maybe you should completely reset your phone and from the reset plug it directly into iTunes and try restoring and upgrading it,

If anything 3GS are old news now, just sell it away on Craigslist make an easy 200 or so off of it. You can upgrade to an iPhone 4:)

I have a 3gs and i'm able to get the iOS 6 update

There's no such things as iOS 5.5.

I highly recommend that you don't update to iOS 6 seeing as it's an iOS update that is something to avoid considering the native YouTube and Google Maps apps are gone.

If anything I would for sure jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 just to use the phone to its full potential. I actually jailbroke and unlocked my old iPhone 3GS just so my girlfriend could use it and I have never seen her so happy with a phone in my life. She loves her 3GS and still appreciates how much she can customize and tweak the way she wants it.

It's honestly up to you though. I have an iPhone 5, and the 3GS is a bit outdated. I moved up from a 4S to a 5 and honestly I'm excited to try out a jailbreak on this iPhone 5. Maybe try buying a 4S. The 4 is a waste of money and literally nothing better than the 3GS. I would probably sell it to gain a few extra bucks.

  • What incentives can I expect for upgrading to iPhone 5 with O2 at end of contract? At the end of April 2013, I complete my 24 month contract with O2 and the iPhone 4. At the end of March 2013 I can upgrade to the iPhone 5 a month early. I see that a new customer can get the iPhone 5 64GB for £209.99 and also have to pay £47 (I currently pay about £43) per month for 24 months, so what incentive can I expect for upgrading rather than just signing up as a new customer or just going elsewhere? A cheaper iPhone, lower monthly fee or something else?
