ITunes help! Updating to ios 6?

So, I just synced all my music and apps to my computer. But when I try to update my phone a little pop-up message comes us that says "updating to ios6.0.1 will delete all of the apps and media. Including iTunes store purchases. On your iPhone. To preserve your content, apply this update on The computer where you sync apps, music, vídeos, and photos. Updating on this computer will only preserve contacts calendars text messages and other settings"
So how do i keep all stuff i bought? And also, i don't want all My text messages on my family's computer? I'm so lost and have never updated my iphone!

  • Will updating my iPhone apps affect my phone speed as how updating the Operating System (OS) will? Currently I'm using the iPhone 5s on iOS 8.3 I know if I were to update my phone to the latest OS I may notice some slowdown on my phone's performance, since it may not have the "muscle" to handle certain functions. Many apps now are optimised for iOS 9 and/or the 6th generation phones. Will my 5s' speed performance slow down if I update my apps? Will the app's performance slow down?
  • Will updating from ios 6.0.1 to ios 6.1.2 remove everything? I know that if you 'Majorly' update your iPhone it will erase everything from your iPhone like updating ios 4 to ios 6, but what if you are just updating your iPhone from ios 6.0.1 to ios 6.1.2 on the same version, is there any difference or it will also remove everything?
  • Updating to ios 7 via ITunes? Is it possible? What do i have to do? I have an Iphone 4S and i want to update the software to IOS 7.Is it possible to do it via Itunes if I connect my Iphone into my laptop. What do I need to do? Also do you have to have Wi-Fi to download it?

Full story: I bought my iPhone off a friend, who previously got it on bill pay, but stopped paying the bill, so they disabled the phone. He got the phone jailbroken to bypass that, and now the phone is working properly, pay-as-you-go, but it is jailbroken. The phone will NOT work without being jailbroken. I was wondering how do I update it from iOS 5.1.1 to iOS 6.1.3? (Keeping in mind it NEEDS to be jailbroken to work)
