Itunes, iphone5, mac troubles?

I'm trying to connect the iphone 5 to my iMac (2007) but it needed the lastest version of itunes. So i downloaded latest version of itunes then it says it can only run in Mac OS 10.7 or later. Heres the problem, when i press software update, it doesn't find any updates at all. I looked up apple website and there's mountain lion which costs money. Any way to connect my iphone 5 to my iMac without spending more money?

Try returning your stupid iphone and get the note 2 once it comes out.

Not for syncing. You can use BlueTooth for simple copying of files.

Software Update is for updating the software you already have. You don't already have OS 10.7, so buy it. Call 1-800-myapple.

Does this mean you will pay around $50 a month for phone service, but you can't pay $19.99 for an OS upgrade for your five year old computer? Think of it as giving up three lattes.

Per the specifications at Apple from the iPhone Manual for an iPhone 5 using IOS 6, Mac OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) minimally, is required. You did NOT mention the IOS version on the phone nor the Mac OS on your computer so this is the best information I can offer.
