Japanese and Chinese translator apps?

I want to learn Japanese and I'm looking for a translator app. So basically I want a dictionary for Japanese translations. I want it to be like, I search up a word and it shows the translation in Japanese

Ex- I search up Light in the dictionary search bar and under that it says the word Light in Japanese. I don't want Japanese symbols though.

Also, do you know of an app that gives you Japanese symbols and tells you the meaning of those symbols and teaches you how to write them? How about Chinese symbols? By symbols I mean words.

So both these questions are for Chinese and Japanese as well. Thanks in advance if you answer either one of them or both ^-^ I'm also using an iPhone 4s for this process.
