Jazz Music to Practice Walking Bass and Soloing?

I have been performing classical contra-bass for about 4-5 years, and have been playing jazz guitar for a year. I'm truly inspired by jazz bass and soloing. I have a few artists that I've been told to listen to to practice with, but I'm not sure exactly which songs I should focus on.

My plan is to go through my jazz book (from guitar-I know my keys and II V's) and then plug in my iphone to my amp and play the songs and improvise a jazz walking bass right over it on my upright bass. My problem is figuring out which songs by these artists are the best to practice over.

Miles Davis
Herbie Hancock
Louis Armstrong
Dizzy Gillespie
Sonny Rollins
Django Reinhardt
Bill Evans
Charles Mangy
Charlie Parker
Clifford Brown
Dexter Gordon
Freddie Hubbard

If you have any suggestions as to how I can practice this step in music, please add that in too!

Depends on you

All of em
all of those artist work is considered a standart jazz tune

lemme add a few
john coltrane
t.monk
benny golson
a.c.jobim
c.corea
etc

practice slowly, speed it up then live happily ever after

  • What are some nice speakers with bass? I need to buy some nice speakers with about two-hundred dollars that I can play music from my computer or iPhone. I would prefer them to be loud and have lots of bass, yet still have nice quality. Size doesn't really matter. Something nice for parties. Any ideas would be great.
  • Speakers with good bass for Iphone input? I'm looking for some good speakers that I can use to plug my iphone into. I love bass so, speakers with good bass would be great! Any suggestions?
  • My apple earpods have lost the bass on one side? I accidentally put my apple earpods (newly designed ones that came out with iPhone 5) through the washer/dryer and they're fine, but the only small difference is that the right side has lost about 85%-95% of its bass. Is there something I can do? I'm assuming not, but any advice would be nice.
  • How to skip practice asvab in recruiting office? I have books I study iPhone apps and I study on the Internet. The questions on the practice asvab seem way different and harder. How do I get a waiver or even skip this practice asvab that is keeping me back from taking the actual asvab. I really want to join the army but this practice asvab is killing me. The highest I scored is a 26 5 points away from 31
