Laptop screen won't turn on

Okay so earlier it was working but then I tried using it later and I hear the sound that plays when you turn it, the light that says if it plugged in or not and the cap locks light even works. The screen isn't working at all like not even a black when you turn it on, it's just not working or turning it on. I'm using my iPhone btw to ask this… Any ways I've tried the 30 second battery thing and it didn't work. What should I do? If I take it to a repair shop how much would it approx.cost? It's a 4year old to shiba satellite. It was working like new earlier. I just don't get why it isn't now. Also I have 300, would it be cheaper to buy a new laptop or repair it?

4year old Toshiba? If it's the series I'm thinking of that had the ATI graphics built-in, you were very lucky to get 4 years out of it. They had like a 90% failure rate, The GPU is toast and you will need to replace the motherboard- which will probably run you in the $300 dollar range

Have you tried turning it off and on?

It could be a few diffrent things wrong with your screen, here is a few things you can try to fix the problem, just follow the steps it gives you to try solving the issue.http://www.ehow.com/how_7189709_fix-laptop-screen-won_t-come.html

Try a different monitor, if it doesn't work it's the graphics chip.
If it does, it's the screen.

You should use the money to get a new laptop.
