Laptop won't connect to Wi-Fi due to limited access?

My hp laptop has recently been unable to connect to any Wi-Fi source saying it has "limited access" I have an iPod and iPhone as well as my sister and mom and they all connect fine. We also have an old desktop and my sister owns the same laptop and it connects perfectly so i don't think it has anything to do with the Wi-Fi, although it says to fix the drivers or something. (I tried but i need internet to do that) also The fan in the laptop needs to be replaced, could that be what's causing the laptop to not connect?

Take your laptop to where the desktop is located and unplug the ethernet cable from that computer and plug it into your laptop. Run Windows Update and search for updated drivers.

If that doesn't work or fix the problem…
I've seen the Limited Access message before on a remote computer. It simply means there's a bad connection… You can log onto your wireless router and try changing the channel. You could have interference. Or you could change the security setting. How often do you turn off your wireless router? I try to turn mine off at least a couple of times a week… That helps clean out the cache and ensures all computers connect quickly.

  • What does it mean when your internet says connected with limited access? I have a windows vista that's 2008. My house internet went down yesterday so I had to take the plug out of the internet and plug it back in after 10 minutes. Then everything worked but today my laptop says connected with limited access but my iPad internet and iPhone works fine. So what to do? I tried everything on google but it didn't work. My sister said its like something I downloaded but I didn't download anything since like 2 weeks. So what to do?
  • One laptop can connect to our home Wi-Fi network but no other devices can connect? We recently set up a wireless internet connection in our house. One laptop can connect to it (the one I'm currently on) but no other devices can connect to it. It says our "Network Security Key" is mismatched. I have tried typing in all the different codes on both the router and modem on both our second laptop and an iPhone 5. How can I fix this?
  • My Wi-Fi won't connect on my laptop but will connect to my other devices (an iPhone and iPad)? I have a MacBook Air. Sometimes it does connect but other times it just won't. It takes ages connecting and then in the end comes up with the exclamation mark or is just blank. Is this a problem with my laptop? I've tried researching the problem but have found nothing.
  • My laptop says 'limited connectivity' to my Internet access? My mother just recently bought five new iPhones, one for each of us in our family. We have Comcast Xfinity as our Internet data plan, and I'm wondering if the arrival of our new iPhones took up the limitation of Internet access in our house. Before we had iPhones, we just had three computers and an iPad in our house. So, is it the iPhones that took up most of our Internet connections, and if so, how do you expand the limitation of devices for our Internet connection?
