Looking for a certain type of iPhone headphone dongle?

So a quick search on amazon only shows a dongle which you can use to connect 'normal' headphones to the new iphones with a lightning connector.

I'm looking for a dongle that does the opposite i.e. I want to use the earphones that came with my iphone 7 with my laptop (laptop just has the normal hole not a lighting connector). Hope this makes sense! I'm not sure what the proper terminology is. If someone could tell what such a dongle is called so I can search for it on amazon or better yet link me directly to such a dongle.

No such item exists.

IPhone 7 doesn't have a headphone jack. You must use bluetooth (wireless) headphones with the iPhone 7. Your iPhone 7 should have come with what Apple calls Ear Buds.

There's no way to connect a "lightning" device to non-Apple equipment.

The lightning port is Apple's proprietary expansion bus; it's better compared to a cut down PCI Express slot in a PC motherboard than anything else, at least in concept…

It needs active electronics in any device connected to it, like fitting an expansion card to a PC. Even the basic Apple USB charge cable has a chips & complex electronics hidden in the lightning plug…

It can run audio devices, video devices, card readers and numerous other peripherals and the whole system is covered by Apple's patents and can only be used by companies that licence the technology from Apple.

You can use the earbuds for iphone 6 or earlier with a normal 3.5mm socket, or you can use the later wireless Apple Airpods with other gear that has Bluetooth audio capability.

  • Somehow, a huge piece of the headphone jack got stuck in the headphone port, and I can't find any I think the headphone type is just a normal iPhone headphone. So ground, audio, mic and some of the plastic, or whatever it is, around it, got stuck in there, and it's not super deep, probably because it's almost the whole headphone jack, but it's still in there. Someone please help! I can't find anything! It's just the headphone jack tip that got stuck for everyone else! It's a laptop.
