Mac problem: How to upgrade to Mavericks?

I can't figure it out. I have a really old version of OS X and nothing is compatible with it, on the itunes app store I can only find iPhone and iPad apps but nothing when it comes to my desktop. I really just need my computer to be updated to where it will work with my iPhone but right now the iTunes version is so old along with the rest of my computer that it won't sync, and when I try to download a new version of the application it tells me my software version is too old. So it would be really helpful if someone were to walk me through how to download Maverick,

Also my software update notifier says there's no update available, so it's totally messed up.

"I have a really old version of OS X" This is the REAL problem, if you have OS X Tiger (10.4.x) or Leopard (10.5.x), and you Really should have told us which one.

You MAY only be able to Upgrade to OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.x), if you have less than 4 GB of RAM, and you'll have to order the Upgrade directly from Apple (1-800-my-APPLE).

Once done, you may be able to get the latest version of iTunes (version 11), but, Apple can tell you if your old Mac can even run OS X Lion (10.7.x), or Mountain Lion (10.8.x), or the FREE Mavericks (10.9.x), and all will cost you about $ 29 each, plus hardware Upgrades.

TIP: Snow Leopard is required to find Apps like iTunes 11, from the "new" Mac App Store, ONLY included with Snow Leopard and up.

I have a mac book pro version 10.5.8 i have ios 7 on my iphone my itunes isn't up to date because my computer isn't up to date, therefore it won't let me plug my phone into my computer. i've heard some bad tings about mavericks. Should i get it or just get mountain lion. i really only care about getting my itunes to work.

  • Mac and iPhone Wi-Fi connection problem? I use N600 netgear router at home and sometimes Wi-Fi fails to log on. I do not get any message from the system. It just logs off. Not just my Macbook air, it happens to my iphone as well. But when I restart my modem and router, I'm able to connect to internet again. Does anyone have solution for this? Or should I use certain setting when I set up the router?
  • Imessage. Can send image from iphone to mac but not mac to iphone? What's going on? Try to send image from mac and error saying "04******** can't receive file transfers"
