Neither of these are as good as a dedicated camera. But you can get clamps for tripods for the smartphone.
You will also need an external audio recorder like the $99 Zoom or Tascam you can get from Amazon and a Lavilear microphone ($30 Movo or Audio Technica).
These devices are also used even if you have a dedicated camcorder with a microphone because the on-camera audio recording is usually pretty poor.
