Mail is taking up 855MB on my iphone?

Can someone please tell me why/how the mail app is using so much storage? I have signed it in it and archived all the emails on each category and then deleted them from trash. I've even deleted the gmail account i use so there's no mail accounts on my iphone but its still 855MB. - The phone i'm using is iphone 6 and it has 12 gb capacity (i think) .

Restart the phone to get rid of all the garbage files created by the deletions. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home at the same time for about 6 seconds and let the phone restart.

See if you can go settings > general > storage > mail and there might be a delete application data option somewhere there.

  • Mail app on iPhone is taking up a lot of space even though it is empty? So recently I've been getting pop ups about my storage being low. I went to check and mail was taking up 5 GB! I went and cleared it out, physically through each folder and deleted everything. Nothing happened. I went and I disabled it and even while disabled it took up lots of space. I turned it off from iCloud too and still nothing. I even went on my account on the computer and deleted everything there yet still nothing. Right now it's at 6.4GB someone please help.
