Motorized bicycle power output? Can I connect it to an iPhone charger?
I have a Chinese 66cc engine on my bicycle and it has an output for a headlight, because I will be putting battery operated lights on it is there any way I could attach it to an iPhone charger that I could plug into my handlebar phone mount? Or even connect it to a USB or car charger? See what I mean?
It depends what the output us providing in terms of current and voltage. USB devices need 5V and between 500mA to 2A DC. Many moters and hub generators only provide a sinusoidal wave form that is fine for lights but could ruin USB devices since the type of batteries these devices use need a DC current flow to charge properly. You would probably have measure the output wave form and then convert into a DC 5V output.

I personally use a rechargeable solar combo battery pack I got off Amazon to keep my smart phone charged.
