Music from PC to Mac using Lacie external hard drive?

I have a LaCie 1TB external hard drive. I'm trying to move music and photos from my old pc to my mac. I used Windows media player for music on my PC and I now use iTunes on my mac. The music and photo files are on the external hard drive, but how can I get the music from the PC to open in iTunes on my mac? Everything I've tried doesn't work, I keep getting an error message. "This song can't be played using iTunes." I would like to put music and photos from my PC onto my iPhone and iPod.

All normal music files will play in iTunes. You may have abnormal files. Microsoft likes to use WMV format for movies and WMA format for audio. Shame on Microsoft.
