My classmates disagree with my type of populism?

I go to a very center liberal University and the class I have is one which all the students interact and discuss things with each other.
Their views are typically pro Hillary, pro Obama, pro AOC and when it comes to Republicans, they would go for Rand Paul, Carly Fiorina, or John Kasich.

I myself irritated them when I defended the yellow vest movement in France along with the Italian triumvirate of Salvini, Di Maio and Conte.

These liberals here in the US simply can't comprehend something like the Yellow Vests in France, Syriza in Greece or the anti establishment parties of Italy.

They just mostly care about social prejudices.
They want liberty and justice for LGBT, blacks, hispanics, immigrants, Muslims, women, but when it comes to the issue of the working class, they turn a blind eye, look at their iPhone X and go to Starbucks.

Why?
Why would they not support the voice of the struggling proletarian but focus exclusively on things like race and gender?

I understand discrimination is bad but what about the disgusting standard of living of millions of Americans?

Who cares. Globalism, socialism and liberalism are losing all over the world. Brazil just kicked out the socialists. Spain will be next.

This country lets everybody into university.

Your focus on outcomes ignores how economic progress has been shown to be successful across societies and governments in the past. Significant long term economic growth has always created both winners and not so much winners -- and yet it is the world's all time champion [by huge margins] at lifting people out of abject poverty.

The lowest level of economic development is the "hunter/gatherer" stage. Chimpanzees and bonobos exhibit this level of development. There are still third world tribes and societies in which subsistence farming, herding, or fishing are the norm for the majority -- this society is about one step up from hunter/gatherer.

Progressing beyond this point, which everyone in every first world culture has inherited, requires rather more of individuals… More cooperation and more learning being the two primary drivers. With these two, a society begets specialization of labor and an exchange economy… And inequality of outcomes.

You have to accept that inequality -- it is necessary if a society is to successfully compete with other societies for resources.

Lenin did not create a society in which outcomes were equal… The bureaucracy of the state, and the police it employed to maintain power, achieved superior living arrangements for themselves over the common people.

Lenin, of course, knew this in advance and was quite plain in private conversations about his goals -- to seize power, using the name of the people to achieve a veneer of respectability for what would necessarily be a police state.

I think you're using your concern for the working class as a cover for the usual motivator for conservative views- you don't want to pay any more taxes. If you were really concerned about the working class, you would be advocating raising the minimum wage, and you're be angry at the Trump administration for passing a tax bill that gives more money to the rich and doesn't benefit the working class at all.
