My debit card was stolen & I'm pressing charges; What can I expect in Court?

My debit card was stolen by a local 19 year old. He used it at his workplace (which is where he picked it up), a gas station, & a few stores online. The amount all together totaled $251.23 (He was dumb enough to ship all these purchases to his house & used his personal email as a contact which is how I found him) I'm pressing charges.

Now, I have been subpoenaed to appear as a witness in court. What can I expect? Is he just being charged for petty theft, or is it something else because he made purchases online? He should have had to sign for the charge at his workplace. Would that be a forgery or identity theft charge?

The sad thing is, had he apologized & offered to pay me back, I wouldn't be pressing charges. He just kept lying, & told people I was stalking him when I confronted him & his boss at the place he worked. Then he tried saying it was some unnamed friend that was in town for that one day, that he has no way of contacting. Apparently this fictional person "borrowed" his iPhone because the thief is just that trusting & all the items were then sent to his house.

What exactly should I expect to happen? What will be expected of me? What will his punishment be?

Added (1). Also, what type of questions will the defense try to use to discredit me as a witness?

You will be asked questions by both attorneys. Just answer honestly any quesitons and there's no way you can be discredited. If you do not know something, there's no harm in answering a question with that. I had my wallet stolen from a gym locker once, so I know how you feel about losing something like that.

You should be awarded restitution as for the punk who stole your Debit card let the law handle him stay away from him he is a thief and deserves no sympathy from you

  • What will be charged against me in court for a stolen iPhone 4? So, I recently got caught up in this mess, and got arrested for stealing an iPhone 4… They haven't given me a court date yet. What can be charged against me? First offense ever, still a minor, confessed to stealing it.
  • Pressing charges for damaged property? I was recently over at a friends house, when her and her boyfriend started fighting he ended up taking MY iPhone and throwing it out the front door shattering my screen and my camera doesn't work. He won't give me the money to get a new phone so I wanna press charges and force him to pay me. Is this possible, if so how do you go about doing it?!
  • ITunes isn't accepting my debit card but it used to? My iPhone recently began asking me to enter my debit card details when I'm on iTunes and the APP store… It used to work just fine but even when I enter my security number correctly and all of the other information is correct, apple won't accept it? I'm with Lloyds
  • Is it reasonable for someone to expect you to replace an expensive gift if it gets stolen? Bought Girlfriend the latest tricked out iPhone. She lost it or it was stolen. Crying about how awful a person I'm because I won't buy her a new one. Forget the past. Simply; "I don't have an iPhone" "You don't love me because you won't buy me one" Is this a reasonable reaction? It has some logic, right?
