My ethernet connection is lower than my Wi-Fi?
I have a HP pavilion dv6000 and recently i bought a new internet plan of max speed of 120Mbps but when i connect the ethernet cable from my modem the speed is (speedtest.net) around 5 mb also on Wi-Fi i get 20 mbs. I tested the Wi-Fi speed on my iPhone 4 s and i got around 60 mbs. I'm running windows 8 Pro. The modem is Technicolor TC7200
Hi
You are lucky as Wi-Fi is usually slower than LAN.
You may look at the router settings via the router web page. Look for the web address in your manual or google the router on the web.
Retest - there are so many factors involved - you need to test a few times at different times of the day - how old is the laptop it may have a base 10 network card in it - though 10/100 has been standard for years and some now are 10/100/1000
is your service adsl or cable? 5mb is very slow - even for adsl
It could be your ethernet wired adapter is set to 10mbps. It could be by mistake, or it failed to negotiate the proper speed, and fell back to 10mbps. It could also be bad drivers, etc…
Check the network adapter properties, and try to force it to 100mbps, full duplex.

- Share ethernet connection to iphone with no Wi-Fi? I'm in my dorm room at school and I don't have a Wi-Fi connection to my laptop, I have it plugged in to an ethernet cable and have tried sharing that connection to my iphone but it usually only works if my laptop also has a Wi-Fi signal. I was wondering if there was anyway to get Wi-Fi on my phone when I don't have Wi-Fi on my laptop, either through ethernet or bluetooth or whatever.
- If you have an iPhone, do you get internet connection without connection? I see people at school and stuff with iphones and they are on facebook, and google, and etc… How do you do that? Does it automatically come with the phone, or is it extra to get connection when you don't have any…
