My front camera quality sucks? [s4]?

I bought a samsung galaxy S4 recently and i tried taking selfies using the front camera at home and i realized that the picture quality is really bad. But when in outdoors, picture quality is good. Compared to an Iphone5, my front camera picture quality were really bad.
For example:
I dyed my hair red and took selfies using front camera at home. On my S4 front camera, my hair looks jet black and picture quality is bad. But on my Iphone5 front camera, my hair looks as red as it does in the mirror and quality is good.
I want to know if anyone else experience the same thing? Or is it just me? Is there anything i can do to improve my front camera quality?

If you want good photos for you stupid "selfies" buy a camera.

Front cameras on smartphones are always dire, the resolution is bad and the lighting is never going to be good for 'selfies'.

If you have a compact camera, put it on as tripod or even a table or shelf and point it at where you want to stand, start the self-timer (10sec countdown) and go back into a chosen position.

The front camera on cell phones is primarily used for conversation between people using Skype or other similar methods. For that reason, they are very low resolution so that they don't use up all of the bandwidth. This is even true for the iPhone.

Thus, they are not intended for, nor are they very good for photos.

The rear camera will be the better camera on your phone.

Use more light.

Average house lighting is way too dim for any compact or phone camera. That is why your outdoor shots (with much stronger lighting) are good. Try getting some spare lamps, or wait until daytime and stand by an open window.
