My husband is an E4 in the navy and expecting baby #2?

How did you budget? I'm just looking for best solutions since itll be tight money wise!

1. Get rid of the Iphone and get a prepaid cheap phone

2. Get rid of the super deluxe cable package and get basic or expanded cable

3. Stop eating out so much or getting fast food so much

4. Only you know what your spending money on, so can figure out what your wasting money on

5. So the first thing to do, is track where all your money goes

IE: write it all down, make a detailed list of everything you buy - that includes what you use a credit card for, write checks for and buy with cash

most people get surprised when they find they are spendng way more money on something than they ever imagined

IE: people finding out that they are spending $200 a month on coffee, or spending $200 a month on new clothes

6. Once you know where they money is going, you can figure out what can be cut or eliminated

Well the Navy will give your husband money for another dependent. Now as for comfort money, you might have to find another source of income. Whether that's taking up a job yourself, doing an "alternative job" (something that you can do at home while watching the kids, like phone sales), or something as ambitious as starting your own business, is up to you.

Ok your husband will not get any more money for another dependent. BAH rates are based on rank and duty location not how many dependents you have. So keep doing what you are doing budgeting wise, it's not easy but you can do it.

I can agree with jeeper.

write down where the money goes. Every cent. That way you can track it and yes, you will be surprised. You will then be able to distinguish between 'needs' and ''wants'.

if you like starbucks - what is wrong with you? Only a fool pays $3-$4.00 for a cup of coffee! Things like that need to go.

to touch one other area - BAH will not change! I would highly recommend (and i tell this to everyone) the following: NEVER - EVER - use what you get for BAH to calculate a budget! Use it as a factor for budgeting your rent or housing costs ONLY. Not your day to day expenses! Your BAH rate COULD change, and it COULD go down based on rents in your area! I have known too many soldiers that would factor their BAH rate into their budget, go get an expensive car, and see their rate go down because of factors in the environment only to find themselves in a financial bind

First thing to do after a certain time is enroll in WIC - Women, Infants, & Children. It will help a little bit with some basic things such as cereals, milk, juice. Then for the rest of your groceries coupon, coupon, COUPON! Look for things on sale and even look at no name brands. Use the commissary as well as it can be cheaper.

Downgrade your cell phone plan as much as possible. Look at downgrading cable as well, or even find out if there's specials going on. You may even have to cut it out for awhile.

For baby clothes look at used ones, there's nothing wrong with that at all. If you need new things then look at the clearance sales, especially now with getting rid of summer things; spring when getting rid of winter; and so on. The same for you and the other child as well. Even see if you can sell some of your own things or the child #2's things online or a consignment store.

Call around for car insurance quotes, as it can become less when doing a comparison.
