My iphone 3gs won't switch on?

I stepped on my iphone breaking the screen and the LCD. I've replaced them and everything else looks ok but i can't get it to work

It could be you need you're battery replaced. Try plugging it into a power source with the usb cord in. If that doesn't get it to power on you might have bigger internal troubles. It also probably couldn't hurt to take it in to apple or best buy and see if they can just diagnose the problem. I'm not sure if they charge for that but I wouldn't think so. They would obviously definitely charge for the repair though unless you're still under some warranty.

That phone is also only like $50 if you want to just replace it.

I don't want to get a new phone because I've had my current one about six months, I really like it, and it works great. I'm not locked into a contract with Consumer Cellular. Would I be able to switch to another carrier without having to purchase a new phone?
